 “OPTICS-EXPO 2008”

 Moscow Department of Science and Industrial Policy welcomes the participants and organizers  of the IV International Forum “OPTICS-EXPO-2008”.
We consider Forum “OPTICS-EXPO 2008” which is carried out within Russian Industrial Week this time as the major large-scale scientific and technological event of 2008, being of interest for domestic science and industry. All lead nations witness rapid development of optic and electronic technologies, optics, lasers and photonics. Investments in these fields of science amount to tens of billion dollars. Domestic optical industry, representing one of the most high-technology and science-intensive industries and being extremely important in the field of solution of national economy regeneration problem, is one of the priority areas of domestic science and technology development.
Optical forums carried out in the format of the All-Russia Exhibition Center helping to solve the problem of development of key optic and electronic instrument engineering and high optical technologies branches, raising funds for financing thereof.
I am sure that optical Forum shall allow its participants to establish and extend cooperation, to profoundly and comprehensively discuss scientific, technological and organizational issues within business program, to solve problems related to optical foreign and domestic promotion.
I wish the Forum participants fruitful work, entering into mutually beneficial contracts, success in future activity and good health!

The D.S. Rozhdestvensky Optical Society has always strived to expand contacts among specialists to back up promising trends in optics and its applications, to spread knowledge in the area of optics, and to apply it in various spheres of science and technology.
Being aware of important role of optics in scientific and technological development, in the XXI century the D.S. Rozhdestvensky Optical Society traditionally participates in the organisation of such large-scale annual events as International Optical Congresses “Optics – XXI century” (held on even years) and International Conferences of Young Scientists and Specialists (held on odd years) that attract specialists – opticians from various countries and of various generations.
The success of the Second International Forum “Optics – 2007” and the tie-in scientific and practical conference give every reason to expect that this year’s Forum "Optics-Expo 2008" will give its participants a chance to get acquainted with the latest achievements and trends of modern optical science and technology, to show competitive products and technologies in the area of optics, to establish business contacts, and to share experience.

OPTICS-EXPO 2008

I welcome the participants of the IV International Forum OPTICS-EXPO-2008, as well as the visitors of the specialized exhibition "Optical Instruments and Technologies", held during the Forum.
It is no coincidence that the XXI century is often called the age of optics and information technologies. Domestic higher educational institutions have rich experience in preparation of highly qualified specialists in optics and electro-optic instrument engineering. The exhibition displays the results of this work; and they will be the subject of discussions to be held according to the program of the Forum.
I hope that the young generation, that we are expecting to come into our design bureaus, our plants, enterprises producing optical equipment, into our research and development institutes, will attend the Forum and take part in its work.

On behalf of the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine I congratulate you with the opening of the IV International Forum “Optical Instruments and Technologies” – “OPTICS-EXPO-2008” (Moscow, Russia, November 10-13, 2008).
At the Forum, where exhibition of products and technologies, a number of scientific and technological seminars and round tables, competitions for the best innovative project and best  electro-optic product are planned to be held, scientists, specialists and manufacturers will be able to propose and bring to life progressive ideas, solutions and designs in the field of optic materials and technologies, optoelectronics and holography, fiber-optic communication and microscopy and  implement optic equipment in medicine, health care and production of consumer goods.
Nano-, integrated and fiber-optics, photonics and optic informatics, electro-optic equipment and systems belong to high technologies and shall become basis for innovative industrial development.

Dear participants of   “OPTICS-2008” Optical Forum,

On behalf of the collective of Federal Scientific and Production Centre FGUP NPO “State Institute of Applied Optics” I have pleasure in wishing you every success at this regular forum of the optics community. It is nice to have a tradition of holding such forums. It is nice for us, optical designers, to be able to demonstrate every year our achievements and novelties to society.  It is nice to have a tradition of demonstrating high technologies aimed at developing new optical elements and promising optical instruments and systems. Such forums contribute to development of very different optical designs. They contribute to strengthening of the optics community. Scientists and engineers of Federal Scientific and Production Centre NPO “State Institute of Applied Optics” make an adequate contribution to solving optical problems, first of all, in the extremely informative infrared spectral region, an area  invisible for a human eye.    Russia as a mighty power cannot but give much consideration to problems of optics which determine as before prospects of development of many trends of technology and industry. Unique peculiarities of optical radiation and optical processes are some basic elements for advancement of modern and future  information technologies.
The aim of the optics community of our country is to bring up optical industry to
adequate standards.
